Questions

"I thought.....I thought you were.......," I stammered.  Questions were swirling around in my head and I didn't know where to start.  Where was I?  Who was this man that I felt so comfortable with, but did not know his name?  How did he know that Minty was gone?

"Shhhh......" He lightly touched his fingers to my mouth. "It's been a long time since you were here and you must be full of questions.  Come, let us walk and I will explain as much as I can."  He let his hand drop away from my lips and with his other gave a comforting squeeze.

I walked with him down the stairs.  My eyes not leaving his face. "Who are you?" I asked. "At first I thought you were the man....the man Minty had pictures of."  I stopped walking and he turned to me. "Is this really real?  Are you real?  You aren't the man in the photos, are you?  He got older along with Minty, didn't he?"

The man's laughter was rich and deep causing another tremor to run through my body.  "Slow down. Slow down.  I'll answer your questions." He tugged at my hand and we continued down the stairs and into the wonderful cool grass.  "I am not the man your aunt's photos. I am his nephew, although I have been told that I look much like him.  My name is Quin and we HAVE met before,"  He smiled at me. "but we will have plenty of time to get reaquainted.  First I want you to come meet my Uncle.  He has many questions to ask you about Minty.  Plus he will be able to explain what's happening better than I ever could."

I glanced back towards my apartment building and gasped.  It was gone. "It's okay." He whispered. "Come."
