Hello, I'm Tricia.
I joined Protagonize on my birthday this year, after lurking for two weeks. A really nice friend joined two days before I did, and started posting like mad, and that was my spur. It was the best birthday present I ever gave myself. And I'm very grateful to my friend. If he hadn't joined I'd probably still be lurking now, rather than writing.
I've only been writing properly since that day and I've surprised myself and everyone who knows me. I love this site and all the gifted people here.
Sometimes I get upset, or angry, or discouraged, because I take things to heart when I shouldn't, but it always blows over.
My two gifted and gorgeous children are also Protagonize authors. Paddy is Padz009 - he's fourteen and very talented. He's written lots of things, but only posted twice here. Lucy is eleven and posts as MissLulu, but hasn't for a while. She's always the first to read my ''Waking Up With Henry'' chapters and wants me to work on it as a novel. But she prefers Paddytum at the moment.
I believe that talent needs to be nurtured, and I always read profiles before I rate stories. Sometimes it helps to know a little about the author before you rate. If someone writes like a twelve year old, maybe it's because they are.
My only solo projects are ''Waking Up With Henry'' (which I'm planning on turning into a much longer novel once I've finished it on here) and ''Paddytum'' My other favourite stories (of mine) are:
- The Life and Times of Bella Pleasance
- The Uninvited
- Song Parodies
- Love Story From a Strange Land
- Bricks
Future story ideas are:
- ''If one of your favourite authors joined Protagonize.'' The idea of this is that you take the first chapter of one of your own stories and add an alternative first branch/chapter in the style of a favourite writer (Can't wait to add Stephen King's take on chapter two of ''Henry'')
- Heroes - a non-fiction ''story'' where you can write about a real-life hero of yours - but preferably not in a straight biographical style. (This is Protagonize, after all, not Helium or Suite 101) I plan to start with Helen Keller because she was a very wise, optimistic and amazing human being.
My favourite stories started by other Protagonize authors are:
- 2008: A Whig Odyssey, by Jonty
- Munkitty Tunkitty, by Jonty
- Ode to Cliche, by Amo1143
- Along the Railroad Tracks, by Accept_Chaos
- The Snowball Story, by Parkovic
- The Story That Ends, by Jillian
- Just about anything started by Seldom
I love this site (did I say that already?) and I can never stay away for long.
Feel free to make friends with me on Facebook.
